About Us

Leo Bellyboards was born out of the short-board era of the 1970s. Legendary shapers Mike Hynson, Dennis (Buckwheat) Raney, Dick Brewer, and Sam Hawk used their skills to help company founder Jerry "Leo" Padilla design his first boards. Leo began prone riding in 1969 and his love of the sport led to the creation of Leo Bellyboards in San Clemente, California in 1997.

 

Today, renowned shaper Chris Kaysen has taken bellyboard design to the next performance level for Leo Bellyboards. We’re proud to say that our boards are made in the USA at The Factory in San Clemente, where the best local shapers, glassers, and graphic artists use state-of-the-art equipment and the industry’s finest materials.
